MY FELLOW CONSERVATIVES

I told my wife before the election ever began that the Republicans would pick up 8 seats in the Senate, take a bunch of governor's races, and pick up maybe 10 or more seats in the House. I knew anyone with any sense who was actually honest with themselves about the Democrats and Obama would turn on them. And it looks like that is how it will actually shake out. And good.

I’m glad for the wins and the show of honesty on the part of most Americans.

However I must be honest about this as well.

A lot of modern people think political elections (and far more importantly what comes afterward) are like petty high school popularity contests (oh please like me, please like me best!) or some type of stupid, juvenile sporting event where every so often your teams shows up and ass-whoops the other guy. Until next game of course.

And secondly a lot of modern people believe it is the job of “their Team” to do everything for them. (That’s’ what you elected them for, right?)

Nothing could possibly be farther from the Truth. That’s exactly the way modern liberals think. That politics is a popularity game or a sporting event and that “your team” is supposed to win the game and fix the world for you. Fix you for you.

Now if you’re a Real Conservative, or even just a mildly mature adult, you know instinctively that politics as a popularity game is utter infantile bullshit, and that no one alive is ever going to fix you other than yourself. Unless, of course, in certain extreme situations, God will have to throw in with you if you are extraordinarily stubborn and self-destructive. But no politician is ever gonna be your stupid savior (you are really, really incredibly naïve and stupid if you believe in "political saviors") and no political party is ever gonna fix either you or the world for you. You want a mommy, okay, but you’re an utter imbecile if by now you haven’t figured out that Obama isn’t gonna breast feed you.

Neither is the Democratic party or their stupid liberal ideology. Nor is the Republican party going to fix you or the world for you.

Let those with eyes to see and ears to hear understand me.

You’ve won the election, but the actual Work is now yours my friends. Entirely yours.

It always was. So it will always be. You just forgot that over time.

Don’t forget it again.

Instead of all that get off your asses and fix yourself. Get off your asses and fix the world. Get off your asses and fix your nation. And it will actually start to get fixed.

You see that’s exactly what being a Conservative means. You don’t look to be led, popular, tended-to, or wet-nursed by effeminate "political saviors." Of any stripe, color, or class.

Instead you look to be honest (with yourself and the rest of the world), solve problems, and fix things.

So don’t let me or anyone else stop ya. Not the old Democrats, not your new Republicans.

This is your job sports. So, hit the bricks. And let’s whip this mutha back into some kinda working shape again.

And there ya go. Case closed suckas, case closed!

THE ANTHROPOCENE ANALYSIS

Well now, decisions-decisions.

Sometimes when it comes to modern people I don't know whether to laugh out loud or just to myself, but either way I know there will be a good belly laugh involved.

I breathlessly await their decision. For otherwise, and without their erudite analysis, how would we ever truly know?

I'm just thanking God that there is at least one lawyer in the lot for this momentous decision. There should always be at least one lawyer in the lot when decisions of this magnitude are reached.

One thing is for sure, whatever happens, it's gonna be absolutely amazing. And a fundamental shift in both our world and in human nature...

Right? Ain't I right on this people?

Anthropocene: We might be about to move from the Holocene to a new epoch

Experts meet to discuss humanity's devastating effect on our planet
After 11,700 years, the Holocene epoch may be coming to an end, with a group of geologists, climate scientists and ecologists meeting in Berlin this week to decide whether humanity's impact on the planet has been big enough to deserve a new time period: the Anthropocene.

The term, coined in the 1980s by ecologist Eugene F. Stoermer, takes its prefix from the Ancient Greek word for human because its proponents believe the influence of humanity on the Earth's atmosphere and crust in the last few centuries is so significant as to constitute a new geological epoch.

The Anthropocene Working Group assembles in Berlin on Friday, an interdisciplinary body of scientists and humanists working under the umbrella of the International Commission on Stratigraphy and "tasked with developing a proposal for the formal ratification of the Anthropocene as an official unit amending the Geological Time Scale".

The 30-strong group, which includes a lawyer, has outlined two key questions which it will address during deliberations at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt:

"How does the recent cognition of the immense quantitative shift in the biophysical conditions of the Earth affect both scientific research and a political response to these changes?" and "Does the Anthropocene also pose a profound qualitative shift, a paradigm shift for the ways in which science, politics, and law advance accordingly?"

THE SUPER SECRET THAT NEVER WAS

If it's really so secret then how do you know?

If it's really so secret then why do you know?

Seems to me like any other old "modern secret."

Top-secret X-37B military space plane could land in California this week

The U.S. Air Force's mysterious X-37B space plane will return to Earth this week --possibly as early as Tuesday -- after 22 months in orbit on a secret mission.

The robotic X-37B space plane, also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle, will land at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, where Air Force officials are gearing up for its return. As of Oct. 12, the X-37B mini-shuttle has been in orbit since December 2012 and racked up a record-shattering 671 days in space.

"Team Vandenberg stands ready to implement safe landing operations for the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle, the third time for this unique mission" said Col. Keith Baits, 30th Space Wing commander, in a statement on Friday, Oct. 10. [See photos from the X-37B mission]...

ULTRASONIC UNIFORMS

Superb! (Not the price, the idea and technique.)

Navy tests out new way of making clothes: Welding

PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Welding isn’t just for aircraft carriers anymore.

The U.S. Navy could be turning to ultrasonic welding to make its uniforms lighter, stronger and cheaper. And if the project by a Rhode Island company and the Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility is a success, it could help bring manufacturing back from overseas.

Welded seams — created when two pieces of fabric are essentially melted together by sound waves — are already used in some clothing that some Americans have in their closets. Patagonia and North Face both sell models of jackets with welded seams. But so far, most, if not all, of that manufacturing is done overseas...

TORPIC TRAVEL?

I'm not really seeing the innovation as this idea has been around for an extremely long time.

Perhaps the article writer is referring to the specific techniques that would be involved. However there is no guarantee that torpor will either be universally effective or universally safe. Plus there will be the danger of a difficult and untimely revival.

And obviously you can't put everyone in torpor, that's far too dangerous.

NASA Eyes Crew Deep Sleep Option for Mars Mission

//
A NASA-backed study explores an innovative way to dramatically cut the cost of a human expedition to Mars -- put the crew in stasis.

Last year, NASA announced the discovery of water on Mars. This posed a question to scientists: Could we grow plants in the soil of Mars? Trace explains what is necessary to grow crops on Earth, and if Mars is able to sustain life.

The deep sleep, called torpor, would reduce astronauts’ metabolic functions with existing medical procedures. Torpor also can occur naturally in cases of hypothermia.

ANALYSIS: Private Mars Mission in 2018?

“Therapeutic torpor has been around in theory since the 1980s and really since 2003 has been a staple for critical care trauma patients in hospitals," aerospace engineer Mark Schaffer, with SpaceWorks Enterprises in Atlanta, said at the International Astronomical Congress in Toronto this week. "Protocols exist in most major medical centers for inducing therapeutic hypothermia on patients to essentially keep them alive until they can get the kind of treatment that they need.”

HOW TO SOVIET UP YOUR IRRIGATION PROJECT

Want to do it right? Don't go Russian...

ARAL SEA

Shrinking Aral Sea

In the 1960s, the Soviet Union undertook a major water diversion project on the arid plains of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The region’s two major rivers, fed by snowmelt and precipitation in faraway mountains, were used to transform the desert into farms for cotton and other crops. Before the project, the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya rivers flowed down from the mountains, cut northwest through the Kyzylkum Desert, and finally pooled together in the lowest part of the basin. The lake they made, the Aral Sea, was once the fourth largest in the world.
Although irrigation made the desert bloom, it devastated the Aral Sea. This series of images from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite documents the changes. At the start of the series in 2000, the lake was already a fraction of its 1960 extent (black line). The Northern Aral Sea (sometimes called the Small Aral Sea) had separated from the Southern (Large) Aral Sea. The Southern Aral Sea had split into eastern and western lobes that remained tenuously connected at both ends.
By 2001, the southern connection had been severed, and the shallower eastern part retreated rapidly over the next several years. Especially large retreats in the eastern lobe of the Southern Sea appear to have occurred ...

EVIL PROPAGATES - AMERICAN BEHEADING

Foreign Evil propagates. Here. Among us. (As if we didn't have enough of our own already.)

And unless we are men enough to call it what it truly is and then obliterate it, then it will spread and corrupt and do much more harm and countless murders.

We should kill this now and give it no room or time to grow. We've already wasted far too much time allowing it to breed elsewhere in the world.

The War of Terror is alive and well. It does not matter how effeminate and intentionally naive we are about our own terminology. Still, it comes.

THE BIGGER MAN

This pretty much confirms what I believe. Modern police training is abominable. And reckless and totally contrary to your real function, to protect and serve. Cops are being trained that they are at war with the Citizen.

Police, you are not at fucking war with the Citizen. You're supposed to be serving him. Drawing your weapon and shooting unarmed, peaceful men before they present themselves as threats is utterly inexcusable and entirely unmanly. AND ENTIRELY UNMANLY. Do you understand what that means? I say this as a man who is usually sympathetic to the police.

You could have killed this man for complying with your request.

YOU MUST BE BIGGER THAN YOUR TRAINING. If not you are smaller than yourself.

You keep killing your own cause, and sometimes innocent men. But in the end you must control yourself first, son. No one else.

Manhood requires far more than being a trained automaton. Your job is to protect the innocent from danger, not to become dangerous to the innocent.

If you do not realize this then who will? And how can any amount of training prepare you for recklessly and impulsively shooting the innocent?

It is well past time to change my friends. For your sake as much as anyone's.

South Carolina man shot by police after alleged seatbelt violation

THE MODERN CULT from HUMAN EFFORT

I am all for training and tradition. But we make a cult of it when we cannot exceed it.

ELIMINATE AND OVERCOME

Criminals rely upon the fear and ignorance of their victims to be successful. Eliminate your ignorance and overcome your fear and the criminal has a far bigger problem than you do.

ARMY GOES ATHLETE

Indeed. There is a great deal of difference between static strength (as exemplified by things like push-ups) and flexible, capable, athletic capabilities as evidenced by the ability to climb, jump, pull, push, roll, etc.

The ability to climb, roll, carry, climb, hoist, and so forth are far more important capabilities to a soldier (or anyone in an occupation requiring both physical fitness and adaptable capability) than is an ability to complete a specific number of sit-ups.

I for one am very glad to see the physical emphasis shifting towards active physical capabilities in testing.

Army's Big PT Test Changes

Army's Big Pt Test Changes
For the first time in more than 20 years, the Army is gearing up to change its fitness test for every Soldier.

Gone is the simple pushup, sit up, and run routine, and in its place comes a battery of sprints, jumps and rows.

And the service is also introducing a grueling series of slalom runs, balance beam walks, casualty drags, and ammo carries it calls the Army Combat Readiness Test -- a totally new evaluation that simulates the kind of body crush Joes experience on deployment.

"The key difference is between 'readiness' and fitness," said Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, the Army's deputy commanding general for initial training. "It's one thing to be fit it's quite another thing to be ready for the things we are being asked to do. And in our case, it's becoming a 'tactical athlete.' "

For the next six months, the Army will be administering the new Army Physical Readiness Test and the ACRT to almost 10,000 Soldiers at nearly 10 Army commands, including Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Sill, Okla. Soldiers there will help Army fitness experts determine how best to structure the tests and how often to do them.

Army officials are also looking into how to grade the new tests, with a simple "excellent," "good" or "poor" potentially replacing a pass-fail or a point score...

AMERICA from POLITICAL CAUSE

America, late to every war that will ever matter, and determined to lose every war that will ever count…

SO RARELY from POLITICAL CAUSE

There is a certain pathetic irony to human history in that the vast majority of people are willing to endure evil for so long yet are willing to risk for the better so rarely.
