Nancy Pelosi Promises to Defund WOT in favor of WOTC

Marxed - Nancy Pelosi Promises to Defund WOT in favor of WOTC

Today on Capital Hill Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has publicly promised to defund not only any possible troop surge that President Bush and his advisors might be considering dispatching to Iraq, but also has promised her local constituents that she intends to begin gradually defunding the larger War on Terror (WOT), no matter where the theatre of conflict.

“We do not believe that the so-called WOT, or War on Terror, is truly vital to American interests, either here or abroad. We believe that we can best achieve strategic national interests with a more moderate philosophy and set of governing principles,” said Speaker Pelosi while delivering a regularly scheduled noon press conference given by house Democrats to the Washington Press Corp.

“The War on Terror is not vital to American interests nor is it a particularly good idea. The WOT, of which Iraq is the most disastrous and obvious example, is really more a macho-ideal spawned in an outmoded era of masculine values and sympathies. America has moved beyond that old paradigm and into the era of the feminine mystique,” said Senator Chuck Hagel who was asked to speak at the Democratic podium by invitation of Senator Ted Kennedy, Speaker Pelosi, and Barak Obama. “This new era,” continued Senator Hagel, “will be marked by bi-partisan cooperation on the issue of Iraq and the broader War on Terror. Meaning I now finally fully agree with myself.”

Speaker Pelosi then stepped forward again to reiterate the general theme of the press conference. “The WOT is an anachronism which should have never been undertaken in the first place. You do not win wars, nobody wins in a war. People suffer and I’m definitely against that. Therefore we have decided to begin defunding the War on Terror (WOT) starting with this very session of Congress and instead will be redirecting the monies saved towards the WOTC, or War on Tax Cuts. The War on Tax Cuts is a very vital component of America’s future interests and it will take a huge amount of government resources to be able to successfully wage this important war. The monies saved by refusing to engage in a global war on terrorism can then be reallocated towards fighting a pre-emptive and decisive WOTC. In order to win this War on Tax Cuts every American will have to do their part. More will need to be paid by every individual, we will have to defund the military in order to accumulate the resources necessary to prosecute this war, and in addition every American citizen, be she legal or illegal, may have to endure Wage and Income rationing. In order to offset the heavy price that must be paid by every American in order to win this multi-generational struggle the Democrats have made the Minimum Wage Increase our most important domestic goal, along with ethics reform of committee memberships and congressional offices, and pre-impeachment investigations.”

“So that the lower and working classes can afford to pay their fair share to fund the WOTC we will increase their minimum wage so that they can now pay higher taxes to fight the War on Tax Cuts. In the long run the Democrats must do what is in the very best interest of America. The American family must be paid more so that they can pay to fund the War on Tax Cuts, which will then of course allow them to pay more. Anyone who can’t understand that must be either an idiot or a Republican, or both. In the Democratic Party we want to fight a war that we can all feel really good about not understanding. It’s sort of like getting a Public Education - We want to be providers, not devisors.”

Near the end of the press conference it looked as if some of the other assembled Democrats might step to the microphone to state their own personal opinions on the WOT and WOTC, but they were quickly silenced when Speaker Pelosi fired off a look which was both stern and startled at the same time.

Cindy Sheehan also attempted to rush the microphone after heckling the press conference with a confused rendition of, “War, what is it good for…” but she was quickly and violently beaten back by Democratic operatives who seemed unable to recognize that she was, after all, one of them.

The Virgin Jolie

The Exchange - The Virgin Jolie

I found this extremely interesting. I'm always fascinated by how modern men and women make such a big deal over celebrity type individuals, such as Jolie, Princess Diana, Spears, etc. that you would think they worshiped these people.

Some actually do I suspect. In any case this woman paints a picture openly exposing that sense of the fawning publicity-cult, and what does she generate... lots of publicity. Not that I blame her, in order to expose some defects in the character of a society you often have to employ the very natural and common means, as well as make use of the self-same defect, in order to establish your point. It is a form of visual, ironic, satire. Still, I find the reaction to the treatment as humorous in many ways as the failure to acknowledge the cause of the disease.

The Real Question is: "Fame, where is thy Sting?"

The Answer of course is: "He's awaiting a new concert tour to promote his Greatest Hits album."

Painter depicts Jolie as Virgin Mary
Posted 1/7/2007 8:28 AM ET

This photo provided by Chelsea Galleria shows the painting "Blessed Art Thou," by North Carolina artist Kate Kretz that features actress Angelina Jolie and her three children hovering in the heavens above a Wal-Mart. Kretz says it addresses "the celebrity worship cycle."

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina artist intrigued by the public obsession with celebrity has found herself feeding that obsession with a painting of actress Angelina Jolie as the Virgin Mary hovering over a Wal-Mart check-out line.
Kate Kretz has painted for 20 years but none of her previous work has garnered the attention given "Blessed Art Thou," showing this weekend at Art Miami, an annual exposition of modern and contemporary art.
The painting has gotten much attention from celebrity websites and blogs. Since the buzz started, the number of daily unique visitors to Kretz's own blog has jumped from an average of 30 to 15,000 on Wednesday.
"My intention was to ask a question and get people to think," Kretz said in a telephone interview Friday from Miami. "I had no idea so many people would be asking a question and thinking."
The painting — acrylic and oil on linen — depicts an angelic Jolie in the clouds, holding her newborn daughter, Shiloh, with children Maddox and Zahara at her legs. Below them is a Wal-Mart checkout line. The painting is for sale for $50,000 through Chelsea Galleria in Miami, which represents Kretz.
On her blog, Kretz, 43, said the painting addresses "the celebrity worship cycle." She said she chose Jolie for the subject "because of her unavoidable presence in the media, the worldwide anticipation of her child, her 'unattainable' beauty and the good that she is doing in the world through her example, which adds another layer to the already complicated questions surrounding her status."
Washington Post art critic Blake Gopnik, asked to comment about "Blessed Art Thou" on a Post blog, was unimpressed. "Once you've deciphered it, there's not much chance of giving it a second look," Gopnik wrote.

Making Marriage Sound Queer, and the Good Child

The Glair - Making Marriage Sound Queer, and the Good Child

I don't care much for Orson Scott Card's fictional writings, but lately I've read quite a few articles by him and I've got to say, the man is often one helluvah essayist.

Take this article on Gay Marriage.

Now anyone who has ever been married knows that although the sport is a joyful exercise on occasion, and just downright fun and inspiring sometimes, that it is indeed a noble and good pursuit - it is also a tremendously gritty exercise in human suffering, patience, understanding, resentment, miscalculation, reversal, redemption, love, and can even often be terrifically hard work. One thing it rarely devolves into is gayness, in either the original or modern sense of the term.

Yet the way modern people use words nowadays you would think that the very best way to redefine anything, and then act on those newly invented redefinitions, is not through some historically fixed set of rules for human communications, but by the use of some misprogammed and viral-laden version of Babblefish.

At some point a person comes to understand that most problems on the face of this planet don't really stem from competing interests, but simply from the fact that people have decided that by redefining their interests in anyway they see momentarily fit, and then cloaking those misshapen and mutated malformations in the brightly colored fashions of public interest, and understanding, and tolerance, that they can reshape reality. Into what is another question, but why bother with questions when the sport is the thing.

A word by any other word would still smell as funny and still sound as queer, if not for the fact that in modern usage no one can hear you scream in cyberspace. After all, in the modern world, data is completely interchangeable with Truth, and if you don't believe that, then you've got a queer way of looking at things. Try refreshing your screen till it all becomes clear again.

Now for something completely different, Men coming home to be greeted by their neighbor's children. I've often wondered, since reading the parable of the Good Samaritan, what exactly composes the Good Neighbor. Is it in the head, or in the heart where fancy's bred? Is courage born of sacrifice, or does sacrifice breed courage in the passing man? Does it really matter nowadays?

When children decide that part of maturing is to wish their fellow countryman death and destruction when their fellow countryman is engaged in a pursuit designed to prevent death and destruction then I have to wonder who shepherds the shepherds, and when did the sheep gain control of the madhouse?

The thing about sheep is that they are not very smart, but try and tell the sheep that.

I am reminded of Animal Farm and for one brief moment my mind drifts back to a day when allusions, analogies, and symbols didn't have to be explained. To a time of youth when people, even the young, got the idea that a thing represented more than itself and that ideas had meanings even if some people drifted through life as if they did not.

Now what passes simply passes.

There is a sort of poetic irony to it all.

We've redefined things so many times that no one remembers the last definition long enough to care that we don't.

The Geek Manifesto!

Marxed - The Geek Manifesto

The Geek Manifesto!

A spectre is haunting the Internet -- the spectre of Digital Re-education. All the powers of the old Tech have entered into an unholy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Microsoft, Public Education, Labor Unions, The Major Telecoms, Dial-Up…

The history of all hitherto existing Social Networks is the history of lowbrow genius and vis-à-vis GUI sub-systems. But this morning marks a new day in the reshaping of yesterday for the good of the New Man, the Man of Tomorrow, the beacon of future generations. For this is the Manifesto of the Man of Discovery, the Wikipedia Man, the man who knows because he has read it on the Internet, the Critical Man, the Man of Deep Web, the Man of Computational and Data-based Netology, the Hope of Us All.

Therefore, we the Geeple, in order to form a more perfect union of concentrically aligned, interface-able communications and impersonal interpersonal Social Networks do ordain a New Order of the Information Age which shall consist of the following Universal Statements of Individuality:

1. I believe a person’s greatest, most important, and long lasting personal relationships will either blossom on-line or in a Massively Multiplayer Environment.

2. If it’s on the Internet it must be true.

3. My relative values were forged as hard and true as a polysilicate nanochip in the seething cauldron of the World of Role Playing games.

4. I believe in the underlying Chaos of all things. Therefore I see no reason to brush my teeth.

5. I don’t really know much at all about history, culture, politics, religion, warfare, society, sports, athletics, economics, the law, government, fashion, or females, but just ask me about data encryption techniques. Go ahead, just ask me. I dare you.

6. My interpersonal social networks consist of Digg, Slashdot, Reddit, Facebook, MySpace, Second Life, and of course, the World of Warcraft. This is because I understand that true human interaction works best as an algorithm.

7. Global Warming is real. I accidentally walked outside one day last summer and it was really, really hot. Since then I stay inside, near my computer screens where the radiation cannot harm me.

8. My multipurpose wireless device contains all of my most important personal and life-data, like my encrypted passwords.

9. I am not nearly as naïve and lonely as I am confident that I must be.

10. People are not nearly as interesting in person as they are when they are converted into game stats.

11. Multitasking is the very best way to achieve what is truly most important in life – a 65th level purple Elven Swordmaster with a set of green, high-top anti-gravity boots.

12. I am absolutely confident that before I die and am obliterated forever I will have finally successfully evolved into a creature capable of living by myself, in my own apartment.

13. Don’t ask me to do it; I just describe it to others in incomprehensible jargon that I learned on the Internet and scraped off of office bathroom urinal stalls.

14. I tink therefore I spam.

15. I do not believe in God, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or other useless and imaginary cultural constructs, like sex with a woman. I do believe I am terrifically well liked and quite ingenious if enough people Digg Me.

16. Petty matters like appearance do not concern me. Hence the way I look and smell.

17. My concrete and erudite grasp of theoretical mathematics and complex programming languages makes me inwardly smug, intellectually superior, and socially retarded.

18. My haircut will always reflect a unique temporal time warp which terminates somewhere near the year 1977.

19. I will never reproduce, but if by accident or freak of nature I ever do, I will immediately repudiate the thought and try to talk her into aborting and donating the stem cells to an underground cloning project. That would be totally wicked cool!!!

20. I expect my chronological age at death to be 120 years, but my Real Age to still be 16.7. And the odds are stacked heavily in my favor.

21. I’ve learned everything I need to know about life by the time I’m 15. The rest of my life will be spent on the Internet discovering trivia and learning awesome new ways to entertain myself.

22. My life is entirely my own to enjoy. Because the girls are always with somebody else.

23. My bedroom is so cool that I intend to marry it one day when Congress finally gets off its ass and approves equal marriage protections for inanimate objects. After that I’ll never leave it again.

24. If you ever need to talk to me for some reason just make sure your security settings are low enough to allow my emails to get through.

25. I know far more about far less than most anyone else knows about that kind of thing.

26. People who Twitter aren't called Twits. They're Twitterites. Learn the jargon you Cro-Magnonese. Jargon is the most important part of any good communication. Sheesh.

27. MySpace is full of MyLies. Naturally I've got one.

28. Why use your real photograph on Facebook when there is so much good stock photography on the internet freely available?

29. I had a Second Life once and it was really exciting and adventurous. Exotic locations, fascinating people, danger, excitement, romance, profit. Important things happening. Then some Russian gave me a virus and I lot most of my data. It just wasn't worth it to reconstruct the whole virtual thing when that technology is already over three years old.

30. Social networking sites will change the future of getting laid. It is possibly the most important thing to happen in the history of the world. Next to the Playstation 3.

31. One day the internet will have evolved to the point that every detail of my life can be shared with everyone else at all times. I'm sure everyone else is as anxious for this day to arrive as I am.

32. I spend a lot of time on the internet consuming a huge amount of energy. I admit that. Which may not be all that good for Global Warming, but I think I off-set that with all of the carbon credits I generate by never breathing fresh air.

33. Nobody is quite so naive as he who gets all of his information just from television. That's why I get all of my information from G4 and the internet.

34. I made a total of $2.97 in my Paypal account off of my personal blog last year. I told everybody this was the future of commerce.

35. As a Geek I've learned a lot about economics off of the internet. That's also why I voted for Barack Obama. See how these things just seem to magically work out?

36. I know that Geekdom is the true path to personal fulfillment and a small, used, subcompact, electric car filled with toxic battery acid . My will be done.

Reddit loses Email Addresses and Personal Information of Users: A Series of Very Unfortunate Events

Pesharim - Reddit loses Email Addresses and Personal Information of Users: A Series of Very Unfortunate Events

Calling it a Streak of Bad Luck Reddit admits that they had stolen from them database information on users, including usernames, passwords, and possibly email addresses.

How the information and media was stolen, by whom, or for what exact reasons the management of Reddit has apparently declined to comment thus far.

But they have released the following statement.

On a separate note, we want to make you aware that media of ours that contained
a backup of a portion of the reddit database was stolen recently. Although the
media did not contain any personally identifiable information about our users
and we have no reason to believe that reddit data was the target of the theft,
we wanted to alert you to the possibility that your username, password, and --
in some cases -- e-mail address may have been compromised. If you use the user
name and/or password for other purposes, we suggest that you change them in
those other uses as soon as possible -- just in case.
We take your privacy
very seriously, and deeply regret any inconvenience this unfortunate incident
may cause. We do feel confident, however, that because we do not collect any
personal information from our users, the ability to do harm with the data that
was taken is greatly reduced. Nonetheless, we decided to inform you right away
so that any necessary precautionary measures can be taken.

As a result of this series of unfortunate events Reddit.com has decided to undertake a series of security reforms. These reforms, both strenuous and functional in nature include the following: keeping a better personal hand grip on business media when walking to the nearby gas station toilet, not yelling out loud phrases such as, “Hey Bob, throw me that PDA will ya, no, not that one, the one with all the passwords and email addresses on it…” not playing Dufus and Dingbat on the same computer on which personal data is stored, not shipping important business documents by “Ho Chi Minute Express,” no longer failing to understand that the Geeks who constitute the majority of their userbase have never had a date and therefore know far more about computer security than they do, not spray painting graffiti symbols of user emails and real names on city sidewalks to see if anyone can “match them up,” and of course, refusing in the future to believe in the Bad Luck Fairy. Reddit.com has decided instead to place their faith firmly in the stick figure drawing.

We wish Reddit.com all the best in their new efforts because Geeks and Nerds and other such magical creatures can be a very accepting herd on a whole range of personally untidy issues, such as: losing wars, late term abortion, Richard Dawkins, cloning, Nancy Pelosi, and of course, Global Warming, but please, please, please, puh-leeeese… do not compromise their on-line security.

A person has to know where to draw the line sometime.

Fame and Faith

The Exchange - Fame and Faith

Digg!

What is it about the various human spheres of activity, Fame and Faith, which makes the achievement of one so detrimental to the progress of the other? What is it about the obtainment and grasping of money, wealth, power, and notoriety that makes it so difficult for those who have achieved some measure of each to maintain some ensuing sense of decorum, dignity, and respect?

I would like to make pronouncement of some simplistic, and usually misquoted platitude to explain this phenomenon, such as; “money is the root of all evil,” or “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” But that would not be a true explanation, assuming there is a single true explanation, because such statements are not universal.

Yes, a large number of people who are inclined towards fame, wealth, and power do achieve at least a modicum of self-annihilation to accompany their more tangible mundane accomplishments. Yet there are plenty of other individuals, who despite achieving great wealth, fame, power, glory, or all of these things, never succumb to a habit to indulge in self-destruction, or the destruction of others. The phenomenon to implode as a result of fame, quickly or slowly, is therefore not a universal problem though it may very well be a kind of ultimate problem for those so afflicted. Britney Spears is but one modern example, not a shining nor an even particularly outstanding example, but a good and publicly demonstrable example of this problem.

So what is it that puts the achievement of fame so disastrously on a collision course of malignant opposition with faith? Now when I say faith I do not merely intend to imply religious faith and the values instilled in individuals in their upbringing. Indeed a person may have no upbringing in any faith or system of values one might even loosely ascribe as sharing any principles of “faith,” modern or ancient. One might be a person who was raised (or by lack of being raised with practically any standards of parenting) as an absolute relativistic secularist, in the modern sense by which the term secular has become corrupted, and so completely lack any standard by which a faith of any kind might even be constructed.

Or one might be raised with lax or at the very least loose standards of faith and later develop a very solid and outstanding personal system of faith such as occurred in the life of Stephen Baldwin. But once again I do not mean to restrict faith merely to one’s religious, or even moral standards and associations. By faith I mean to encompass that whole host of religious, moral, psychological, social, cultural, and even secular (in the true and original sense of the term) pursuits which might comprise the life of any individual. In this respect I mean all of those forces and factors which prevent an individual from going completely buck wild and in a sense, suicidal and self-destructive towards both their overall life and the very career and work which propelled them to fame. What is it that would compel a seemingly sane and accomplished person to strive so hard and so long for fame, glory, wealth, and power only to collapse at the height of their acquisition of these things into a wrecked heap of a self-inflicted human catastrophe?

For this phenomenon, although it seems simple upon the face of it, is actually a complex set of interrelated phenomenon and factors. It is not merely a matter of fame, and social and public success, it is also in the true sense of the term a deeply psychological, and moral, or amoral as the case may be, matter. It is also usually, not always, but usually also a cultural, social, religious, and secular matter.

My father once told me, and I did not at the time understand the full import of his words, “Son I have no respect at all, or interest in, any man who cannot handle the fruits of fame.” Personally I have never had any real interest in fame for myself, that is I have never desired to walk down the street and be recognized by strangers (I would rather go unnoticed and invisible, so as to better observe others), to have people seek my autograph (that would be repugnant to me), to see my name up in lights for a public display, or to make a spectacle of myself in any form or fashion. So what my father said about fame seemed to me at the time a simple statement about the bad effects of fame. But my father wasn’t really saying that about fame, or at the least he wasn’t saying just that. What he was saying was something so deep and complex, as many simple statements are, that it is actually a kind of metaphor to describe those obsessed by fame.

Now I do have an interest in money, power, wealth, leadership on occasion (if I feel I am best qualified to lead in a given circumstance) and perhaps even some measure of secular notoriety for my accomplishments (after all I’m placing this article in the public sphere, aren’t I). And at some point or another in my life I have had good, and not so good, success with each category of interest and pursuit. But my desire for fame never seemed to equal my faith, that is I never thought that what might by obtained by fame would equal what might be consistently and positively achieved by faith. So fame was always to me inferior in kind to faith, and faith always superior in nature to fame.

This is not to say that everyone who achieves fame loses their faith, or even that their faith is damaged or in danger by getting fame. Some individuals might develop a far greater strength and faith through achieving fame than they might have had they never achieved fame. The problem of the potential corruption wrought by fame is as I said above, not a universal one, but then again it is hardly a unique outcome either. What I guess I am saying is twofold; if your desire is for fame without faith; that is if fame is your only lodestone, then the natural gravity of your compass will drag you to the lowest point of your surrounding environment. And secondly, if you see fame as in opposition to, rather than complimentary to your faith, then eventually, you will likely be left with neither as cold comfort on an isolated frontier. If you think that to achieve fame you must relinquish, or abandon, or sacrifice your faith, then you will do so to achieve a very temporal and temporary form of secular fame at the expense of your more universal and long term secular, religious, and moral faith. You will have lost true fame to assume the mantle of outcast exile, to become a man without a country, a ruin of moral compromise, and a warning to the wise.

When men and women think of fame and fortune as separate and viable objectives in and of themselves, or as life itself, rather than one of many possible accomplishments which might enhance their wider life and faith, then they have lost all ability to even understand the what true fame might achieve. They chase a ghost of a shadow during an eclipse of their soul. Even worse they have buried their faith in a cold grave to marry themselves to a dead lover who cares nothing for their affections, desires, or ceaseless pathological desperations.

Faith without fame is a common human condition, almost everyone knows and experiences it at some point in their life, but fame without faith is that rare preserve of those individuals to whom life is a kind of dreamless sleep and a walking death. And no matter how far they walk they will never be able to walk far enough away from themselves to finally wake up again.

“Tell Me I’m Beautiful”

The Glair - “Tell Me I’m Beautiful” Wins NEA Endorsement and UN Approval for International Baccalaureate Schools in US

Digg!

The “Tell Me I’m Beautiful Program,” the controversial public school initiative that first started in Denver, Colorado as part of the No-Child Left Behind Act, and has since been adopted nationwide has just won NEA approval. In addition the program has been sanctioned by an international education commission and has been approved by the UN as part of the IB program for International Baccalaureate Schools in the United States.

The program, which originally began as a Child Tolerance Initiative, that included the free distribution of brightly colored and candy flavored condoms to first and second graders in order to stem the spread of AIDS/HIV, a set of colorable social studies and history books aimed at homosexual issues which the kids could finish in crayons, and an on campus policing program to prevent harassment of young homosexuals, has since matured and developed into a much larger and more ambitious program.

Said Director Heidi Florcheister, “We’d like to give all students a chance to participate in the ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful’ initiative, not just our beautiful homosexual grade school students. So we’ve talked with several middle and high school principles as well and they unanimously endorse the concept. So the program is going to be expanding into all grade levels of public education. From K 3 and 4, all the way up to our 6-year Senior Level ‘Let’s Finally Graduate with Respect’ program. What we’re trying to do is combine several initiatives that will be beneficial to all of our students into one big package of educational benefits so that every child will have a chance to feel that they too are beautiful. We don’t want to leave any child behind. A child might start out behind, but with this program, sooner or later; they will get their turn up-front as well. It’s important in today’s complex world of cultural, social, legal, and sexual issues that every child feel beautiful and that every child get their turns both in the rear and up-front. A child just learns more about the world, and his or her ultimate places in it, that way. Educators are united in their desire to see all of our children fully mature, both from the front and back. That’s the very best way for child and educator to both get what they want and need out of a good public education.”

From a modest beginning the program has now grown to not only cover all grade levels of public education, it has also grown to include several sub-programs, as well as having branched out into over twelve other states as well.

“We expect to be in all fifty states by the time our great new Democratic Congress is seated, and at that time we expect our budget for the next two years to quadruple every year thereafter,” said Ms. Florcheister. She was clearly excited by the prospect of seeing the program that she had spearheaded for so long now progressing by leaps and bounds.

“We’re absorbing the ‘Head-Start,’ ‘English as a Dead Language,’ ‘My Parents are Different,’ ‘Teach Me to Spend,’ and the 'Darwinian Dilemma’ programs, all of which will now operate under the umbrella of our world class US educational super-program, ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful!’ Kids taught in public schools will be even smarter than they are now! Can you believe it?”

It is indeed very difficult to believe but the evidence seems clear judging from the reactions of the students themselves. The most popular part of the program, from the student point of view, seems to be the ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful’ nametag, which the student can wear on his or her shirt or blouse like a post-it sticky note. The name tag, which is six inches by six inches includes the phrase ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful’ in big, bold pink lettering, has a space for the student to insert their own name, and contains a wealth of biometric data as well as what is coming to be called socio-metric data. Socio-metric data includes; weight, height, hair color, eye color, favorite color, favorite places to eat, favorite secret meeting places, a student’s My Space address, an email address, favorite mixed drink, favorite narcotic, sexual orientation, popular warm and cuddly catch-phrases, known communicable diseases, most eye-catching eye-liner, best shades of make-up, best tattoos, and of course, favorite places to be pierced. Originally the program had planned to use blue lettering for the boy’s nametags, but when it was discovered how popular pink is as a color among modern boys in public schools all nametags were left pink.

Privacy and security advocates have expressed criticism and concern over the biometric and sociometric data chips contained in each ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful’ nametag. But school and educational officials scoff at the idea that such information could be used to do harm to any student.

“At the end of every day they simply peel off their ‘Tell Me I’m Beautiful’ nametag and throw it in the garbage,” said Ms. Florcheister. “Each day they are printed out a new nametag complete with the same biometric and sociometric data. What could be simpler and what could go wrong? These people who worry about security and such things think everybody is out to get them. We don’t have more than three or four students and teachers at any given school involved in a criminal case at any given time. That’s a small price to pay for feeling beautiful, and being beautiful. And the costs for the program are minimal.”

Indeed, costs notwithstanding, the nametag program alone is said to be a truly rousing success among students at all age and grade levels. Rather than breaking down into gangs and cliques along socioeconomic and racial lines, a common occurrence in many public schools these days, students from a wide variety of backgrounds are now heard to greet each other every day with the “You’re Beautiful,” mantra. Gone are the days of gang fights, racial tension, cliques, and a desire to dominate. Instead modern schools are filled with boys covered in make-up, girls tattooed like sailors, strange unisex hairdos, free exchange of biometric and sociometric data, on campus political party rallies, a cacophony of various languages, a great variety of unusual and bizarre odors, and of course a veritable floral colored plethora of “Tell Me I’m Beautiful” nametags.

Apparently when it comes to getting a good, solid, high-quality public education, beauty works.

An Introduction to God Technology: A Basic and Working Definition

Invisible Hand - An Introduction to God Technology: A Basic and Working Definition

I wrote this article as a result of a brief exchange that passed between another blogger and myself on her blog about the nature of modern technology and informational overload. I began discussing with her that her observations were reflective of several of the problems associated with God Technology and from her responses I understood that she did not really understand what I was speaking about. Which is completely understandable as the term is of my own coinage (I am not aware of anyone else using the term and especially not of using any related term as I define it) and I have, outside of discussions with a few close friends and closely guarded and tightly circulated papers, never before made the details of these ideas public.

But after the exchange described above I felt it would be easier to start to more widely publish these ideas and essays in order to avoid having to explain them at length every time I mention the term God Technology.

I have over the years developed several papers and essays regarding the ideas surrounding God Technology (and related theories and applications) but have always resisted fully discussing the term, or publishing my own theories concerning God Technology. But I’ve come to a point where I now feel it is the appropriate time.

So, after my exchange with Heather I sat down and wrote this basic introductory work to the theory.

If after reading this article you wish to comment, send me an email, or discuss these ideas here in more detail, please feel free to do so. I would both enjoy, and find interesting, the feedback of the public.

If you like this article please encourage your friends and family to read it as well and let me know what they think.

I’m also going to post this article to Digg. If you like the article then you can Digg it too.
This will be only the second article I have ever posted to Digg.

In the future I’m going to be posting other papers, theory papers, essays, and articles generally related to this subject. Sometimes on this site, the Missal, and sometimes on one of my other blogs, on the B-Reader, or in my newsletters. Perhaps also I will do some publishing in certain magazines and periodicals. But for now I am posting this introductory article here, so as to establish a foundation and basic definitional set for a more fully developed discussion of these ideas at a later time.

An Introduction to God Technology: A Basic and Working Definition

Digg!

God Technology is simply the theory I have had for years now concerning technology that mimics or replicates powers traditionally ascribed to God, and the stages by which that technology is manifested in human society, and what form that manifestation takes in each separate stage.

For instance the television is God Technology, though because we are so used to it and it is so ubiquitous few people ever think of it that way. But the television intercepts hidden and invisible and otherwise undetectable (without the use of technology) radio waves, in real time, which also are capable of carrying visual data and through use of an interface allows the viewer to see things occurring well beyond the range of their own optical senses. God can see distant places which no human could perceive because of sensory limitations, and yet now through devices like the television, internet, radio, radio antennas, satellite transmissions, cell phones, etc men can partially and practically mimic more and more of those same capabilities of perception and communication.

With computers men can accumulate, store, and replicate data that would normally be inaccessible to any ordinary individual, no matter the context, content, or volume of the data point.

Video and computer games allow people to enter virtual environmental mock-ups of the real world and practice real world skills in game form (though this application is rarely if ever fully and properly exploited by either player or game designer/manufacturer), thereby developing latent or nascent talents in an individual that might otherwise never be exploited or exercised. These skills of course in no way need necessarily be limited to "game skills in an artificial and unreal environment" but could also include the practice of real world mental, psychological, behavioral, spiritual, and (as control schemes and devices become ever more biologically and one day even genetically interactive) probably even physical skills.

And that's what I mean by God Technology. God has the ability to intercept, perceive and make use of, as well as decode and decrypt, huge amounts of data and information which no other individual or singular operative could possible perceive (because of sensory and physical limitations) and then discern or even create practical patterns in that informational background environment in a useful way. Instead of the general background radiation field of the universe, think of it as a General Background Informational and Data Field of the World.

Because there is currently so much data available in the world no human being, or even corporate cluster of human beings, can efficiently absorb and employ such a swell of information and such an array of indecipherable data patterns. Technologies are now being developed, and will continue to be developed, to sift this almost constant and ceaselessly changing data stream to better allow humans to perceive such patterns and to make better use of a stream that is moving far too fast and is far too large in volume for individuals to properly exploit. However much more work needs to be done in the area of developing technologies that make God-like data fields understandable and useful to the ordinary and average human consumer of information. Or even to the technical specialist.

If I may use a simplistic analogy, several centuries ago data streams were just that, small streams of basically disconnected data and information which were available to relatively few individuals who could make relatively little use of that data (in comparison to the full potential implications of the data) and could access that information in what was in effect only a very limited number of ways. A century ago that data began to collect in larger and larger tributaries and eventually into huge rivers, which might be compared analogously to the Mississippi or Amazon Rivers, or like the Nile.

Now data is clustered into huge, but as still not fully connected or linked, seas similar in many ways to the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas. And these data seas are accessible at numerous points. But because these data seas are in such a constant state of flux, are so huge, and in some cases, still so difficult to access it is impossible for an individual to successfully fish that Sea for everything they want, or could even potentially make use of for simple reasons of physical limitations and geography. (I'm speaking about data and informational geography, not just physical geography.) And in some cases real geographic, political, and cultural barriers prevent "sea-hopping" from one body of data, information, and even intelligence, to another.

Eventually technologies will have to be developed to allow humans to better "fish" the Seas for what they want, can make use of, or to be able to better discern patterns and information hidden beneath the surface. Because soon enough those Seas of Data will become Oceans of Data, Information, and Intelligence.

But suffice it to say that God Technology is simply any technology that allows man to mimic powers and capabilities and abilities traditionally ascribed throughout history to God. To see the invisible, hear the silence, reduce distance, manipulate time and space, discern behavioral patterns, deduce intuitive answers and solutions in a real time fashion, solve complex problems interactively and/or near instantly, and so forth and so on. As a matter of fact most any piece of human technology can be used as God Technology if it is properly employed in that way and is thought about in that way. God Technology is not simply the technology itself, but the application and how it is employed.

I've written, or am in the process of writing, several papers on this and related subjects, such as:

"The Stages of God Technology in Human Historical, Cultural, and Scientific Development," "Private Intelligence and Investigative Networks," "Methods of Predicting, Anticipating, and Interdicting Individual Criminal Behavior," "Can God Technology Be Used Successfully Against International Criminal Cartels?" "Military Applications of God Technology," "Non Lethal and Less than Lethal God Technology," "God Communications (Transmitting and Transceiving as God Might)," "The Intelligence Applications of God Technologies," "Spiritual, Psychological, and Societal Implications of Mimicking the Capabilities of God in the Form of Human Technology," "Transferable Real World Skills: The Virtual Transference of Real Human Skills Through Game and Media," “God Technology and Animals: Developing Parallel Human Intelligence in Higher Animal Species,” along with a few other papers.

Eventually I hope to tie several of these related ideas into a sort of grand scheme or structure which will allow God Technology efforts in several spheres of human activity, such as the scientific, religious, artistic, cultural, military, intelligence, law enforcement, exploratory, communicative, and academic arenas to proceed in an interrelated fashion of cross fertilization.

For now I'll just close this introductory article with a simple, Basic and Working Definition of God Technology:

God Technology: Any technology or technological device that allows the user or users to mimic, imitate, or replicate those abilities, capabilities, powers, and capacities historically and previously ascribed only to God. God Technology is not simply the matter of the functional capability of the technology itself, but also the manner and method of the applications of the various functional capabilities of a given technology.
